Isha Hatha Yogis Classical Yoga Teachers

Shayla Ghelani

“Blessed are the Flexible for they Shall Not Be Bent Out of Shape” – Unknown

Born in the UK and raised in Canada, Shayla was an inquisitive explorer and seeker from a young age. Full of questions about the nature of existence that no one could answer, she found herself drawn to outdoor adventures, art and creativity, and esoteric pursuits like Vedic Astrology, Ayurveda and meditation. Over time though, she slipped into the conundrum of conventional life with a corporate job, following the norms around her and burying existential questions in the back of her mind.

Finally re-inspired after reading “Autobiography of a Yogi” and realizing that humans have much more potential than we’re bred to believe, she decided to leave her limiting lifestyle and embark on a long inner journey. In 2008, she sold her home and worldly possessions and took off on a solo trek to India, hoping to tap into the deeper dimensions of life. After taking yoga, meditation and Ayurveda courses in India and travelling for a few years with her husband (who she met along the way), she was fortunate enough to come across the wisdom of self-realized yogi and mystic, Sadhguru  (while on a side-trip to Uganda). That’s when her deeper transformation truly started to take shape.

After spending time at the Isha Yoga Center (an Ashram in South India) taking various courses, volunteering and experiencing many blissful moments and internal changes, Shayla realized she had to share these amazing tools with others. Long story short, she trained to become an Isha Classical Hatha Yoga Teacher through their 21-week Teacher Training Program (1750+ hours), and is now able to happily share wellbeing tools with others, and see them transform their lives too.

Her passion for yoga and travel have made her somewhat of a gypsy yogi, so it only made sense to synergize the two through Hatha Yoga Retreats. When she’s not travelling, she teaches private and group sessions with Yoga Logic in the UK, mainly in Leicester and London.

“The Journey is The Goal”
Lao Tzu

Vaneeta is an Isha Classical Hatha Yoga Teacher, Nutritional Therapist, Wellbeing Coach and author of the book “Bliss Junkie”. Based in East London, Vaneeta offers Isha Hatha Yoga classes and Wellbeing consultations through her company Yoga Logic.

After suffering the loss of her father at a young age, finding inner peace became her mission. She began to question existence and wanted to find the secret to happiness. Following a conventional path in her younger years, she obtained a BA in Management Studies from Leeds University in 1998, but felt there had to be more to life than what lay ahead. Shortly after, she set out on a mission to find out what happiness meant and how to achieve it.

In 2001, she travelled to India, where she studied Reiki, Meditation and Yoga and by 2006, she had a diploma from the College of Naturopathic Nutrition. Since then, she has focused on self-development and personal growth and trained in various subjects including Psyche-K, NLP, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centred Planning, and Leadership and Management.

Her journey has also taken her to the depths of the Himalayas where she encountered wise, spiritual masters who have chosen a life of purity and restraint. Through them she was able to discover that other possibilities existed in life. She has had the great fortune of going on pilgrimages to mystical lands and has experienced dimensions of existence that she never knew were possible. Her travels have bestowed on her unimaginably profound and wonderful experiences.

Whilst all this experience and travelling was blessed and informational, the biggest internal shifts occurred after encountering and starting the practices of Kriya and Hatha Yoga with living yogi and mystic, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev from the Isha Foundation.

She then spent two years living in his ashram in India, where she spent a month in silence, worked and served, and eventually trained for 21 weeks to become an Isha Hatha Yoga Teacher.

Wellbeing has been her life’s work and passion, and she now works to share her experience and wisdom with others, to help them on their own journeys towards inner peace and self-discovery.

Rekha Krishnamoorthy

“The very center of your heart is where life begins. The most beautiful place on earth.”
 –
Rumi

From a young age, Rekha had an innate passion to help others through hardships and healing. In recent years, this passion has translated into wanting to help people become the best version of themselves, and she has personally witnessed how yoga and meditation can enable this. Previously a Strategy Consultant for 10 years in the U.S. and Sri Lanka, she is now a certified Isha Hatha Yoga Instructor.

Rekha underwent 1750+ hours (21 weeks) of training in India, which involved comprehensive exposure to yogic practices, maintaining a strong link to its classical roots. She was also trained in understanding the human physiology, anatomy and Siddha Medicine (a system of traditional medicine originating in Tamil Nadu, India, and older than the science of Ayurveda).

During the course of her own training, she experienced significant transformations – physically and on many other levels. She found herself with higher levels of energy, a substantial drop in sleep quota, enhanced clarity, a stronger immune system, and subtler changes in her overall way of being. Her relationships and interaction with others also improved in ways that were impossible to ignore. It was these changes that inspired her to share these powerful ancient yogic practices from India, with others.

Rekha has been conducting yoga and meditation classes, workshops and retreats in India and Sri Lanka for the last 2.5 years. Her classes are tailored to offer a solid foundation on how to perform asanas (yoga postures) with the proper alignment, form and breathing, combining pranayama, bandhas, and meditation.  She encourages students to develop their own practice and to improve self-awareness, and emotional and physical balance.
